I don't travel much during global pandemics, but when I do, I prefer the Octopus Hideaway. At a time when a change of scenery was desperately needed, Brenda and her team provided the ultimate escape. There's a reason this house has a perfect 5-star rating - the adorable beach cottage has everything you need: it's perfectly situated directly across the street from one of the nicest stretches of beach in North San Diego. Just a 2-minute walk to the sand, and that's with hauling all the beach chairs and umbrellas and toys and boogie boards that Brenda supplies for you - so you don't have to worry about bringing anything with you. It's only a few minute drive to downtown Del Mar and Solana Beach - home to some terrific restaurants that do takeout and delivery. Brenda recommended a breakfast spot - Claire's on Cedros - and we ended up eating 3 meals there. The ricotta-stuffed french toast is worth the trip alone (sorry this is turning into a food blog). In addition to excellent recommendations, Brenda left a nice personal note, small gifts for the kids, a complimentary bag of coffee - and a very clean and comfortable house. There's a cute backyard with a picnic table where you can relax and BBQ (get the Tri-Tip from the grocery store in Cardiff!). And an outdoor shower to rinse off all the sand from your day at the beach. I'm sure I'm forgetting things - but rest assured Brenda didn't. Stop reading this tome and book already. -Eric
